Rick Berman aka Dr Evil
Relaxing (rather than blogging) in front of the TV, a segment on 60 Minutes got my attention (while Tiger deferring to a nice young Zach Johnson was a change too…) Rick Berman a hired gun anti nannystater was show cased. Now here’s a lobbyist that could do some good here in Vermont! No doubt many readers have heard of Mr. Berman, but I have not. I will say, we need more Bermans to diffuse the apparent lack of critical thinking that is rampant these days. Rick Berman’s Center for Consumer Freedom certainly has fresh (if not really new or “PC”) perspective. For example, it’s hard to imagine Dr. Evil would have good things to say about prohibitions against drinking coffee while driving (he’s not very supportive of MADD either… and that apparently is not very “American” and “apple pie” (which by the way can no longer be made with trans fats… that’s a no no (my mother is turning over in her grave!)) On the other hand, I suspect he feels that we should be responsible to ourselves - for ourselves - etc. What a novel idea! Maybe we can pass a bill for that too!
