The American Chemical Society has a news release linking fireworks to contamination of lakes. Apparently this could be more serious than the significant contamination of Lake Champlain by pet waste. I’m not the brightest cookie in the jar, so I am still trying to understand how pet waste becomes a problem in light of a few more cows, deer, woodchucks (the real ones), foxes, rabbits, etc. . With cows, we mix their waste with water and spray it all around! No E. coli there? Anyway, I’m still working on this one. So now the ACS says I need to worry about perchlorate contamination from fireworks… which apparently also finds its way into lakes from fertilizers … and lightening!
Geez. Any bets on how long it takes until we ban fireworks?
