something to ponder

The debate among the Republican Presidential Primary candidates on CNN last evening was quite interesting - if unsatisfying. Particularly curious was that all candidates not only embraced religion and a belief in God, but held to Creationism and eschewed the “theory” of evolution (science being what it is.) And then on the other hand, all of them were persuaded (assured?) by the scientific community that climate change and global warming was both a fact and that it was a result of the activities of mankind. Hummm…

Here’s another conundrum to ponder…

Stem cell research, government funded, using human embryos has been prohibited by on “moral” grounds. However, just today, a report was issued suggesting that rather than embryo derived stems cells, it may be possible to create a stem cell equivalent from normal human skin tissue (fibroblasts in fact)! Research using these types of modified cells would circumvent the moral issues of embryonic derived cells. Except of course such cells would be fully capable of developing into a human being - in a fact a clone of the human from which the cells were taken.

Hummm… How long until the light goes on there?
