some solace

Politics, Vermont, critical thinking, global warming, taxes
We’ve been reticent of late. Discouraged to say the least. But some small solace is to be had with the failure to override the Governer’s veto of the “energy bill”. Yes… yes we have failed to address global warming by failing to fleece the best thing Vermont can point to in the “global warming” arena - to show us all how to conserve all that global warming oil with a little insulation and some weather stripping.
Actually, by failing to address Vermont’s atrocious taxing habits… we’ve done more than can be expected on the “global warming” front. Growing - or even sustaining - economies require prodigious amounts of carbon based energy. If you paralyze economic growth… you stop that growth in carbon based energy consumption! Hence our contribution to the “global warming” problem will far exceed the expectation of the Shumlin Symington crew… and they should take credit for it.
We should beg whomever to build a nuclear plant right in the middle of Burlington… Anway, tax those out-of-state equity investors (who invest for the sake of “profits” - for shame!) and you tax your own pension fund. No problem - just tax again to make up the difference. We just don’t get it.
