speleothem

Know what a speleothem is?

No? You can get up to speed on speleothem’s at Wikipedia and then travel on over to Climate Audit. This stuff is not for the scientifically faint (or is that feint?) of heart! Speleothems are another paleoclimate temperature proxy - as are ice cores. Since scientists are determined to tie in the current surface temperature warming to carbon dioxide emissions, temperature (and carbon dioxide) proxies play a critical role in their arguments. What makes speleothems interesting is that they show a somewhat different picture… one ususally explained by arm waving and pounding shoes on table tops…

All of which points to one simple fact - it is not at all clear what’s going on.

If you’re game, follow along the discussion at Climate Audit. As I said, it’s not for the feint of heart global warming scientist.
