mass extinction

climate change, global warming
Being interested in climate change and environmental issues, it was almost impossible not to take the bait and watch CNN’s “Planet In Peril”. Running side by side with ABC’s coverage of the southern California wildfires, it is quite a feast for fear.
While I deplore the habit of repeating video segments between commercials (and after all… isn’t that what the bait is really all about?), the wild animal poaching segment is indeed distressing. That species extinction is occurring is irrefutable and unfortunate. The problem is simply that there are too many humans on this planet. Humankind’s ability to grow and prosper unchecked threatens the ecology of the planet with what can only be seen as tragic consequences. However, long after we are no longer able to survive as a species, biological diversity will return and repeat the experiment with a new set of variables. So take heart.
Species extinction is not a new concept but understanding the causes still remains a challenge. It is no surprise then that the latest theory attributes species extinction to … global warming.
Fossil Record Supports Evidence of Pending Mass Extinction
From what could be gleaned from “Planet in Peril”, we’re doing a pretty good job of species extinction without much global warming.
