any Millennials Vermont?

Vermont, economics
Last Sunday evening I caught a 60 Minutes segment on the “Millennials” (The Millennials are Coming). The Millennials follow the Y Generation, which follow the X Generation, which follow the Baby Boomers. With a keen appreciation of Vermont’s demographic crisis, which is well developed here by Art Woolf and is a recurring category on Vermont Tiger, getting this prime time perspective on the most recent “Gen” was rather enlightening.
The Millennials, born between 1980 and and 1995 are entering the workforce. They are the future and they are also both incredibly self-assured and self-absorbed. Their parents, the “Boomers” made sure of that. Having parented two Millennials myself (OK – with my wife too) I will in part accept responsibility for what we have wrought.
This is a generation that we would not let fail. They have grown up in a booming technology driven economy for which there are no foreseeable limits. We have put silver spoons in their mouths. Literally.
These are of course broad sweeping generalizations; “trends”. But what do these trends mean for Vermont?
What does Vermont have to offer the “Millennials”?
And where will Vermont be in 20 years without them?
The link to the 60 Minutes video segment needs broadband. If you have the bandwidth and didn’t see the segment – it’s a must see.
No broadband? So what does Vermont have to offer the “Millennials”?
