TheAgitator.com: We Had to Kill the Neighborhood in Order to Save It
Confidentially, we’ve taken issue with some of the parochial thinking that from time to time makes its way into the Addison Independent. For example, we have been a bit cynical about Middlebury’s concern over the possibility of a Starbuck’s or Staples taking up residence in our quaint little town.
Seems similar concerns can be found outside of pastoral Vermont; such as in Old Town Alexandria, VA. If I were to make a prediction, (and I guess I will) I’ll put my money on the deep pocket retailers - for all the reasons Radley Balko’s article brings to light. It’s just a matter of time.
