absurd, climate change, economics
Here’s a tidbit that may be of some interest to Vermonters. For those of us who are “climate concerned”, a new – Federally funded study (your money and mine) “found” that divorce contributes to global warming! Since splitting up families now requires two “living environments” where there was only one, this increases the inefficient use of electricity, water, construction materials, etc. adding to the carbon foot print and thus is part of the global warming thing. Our Montpelier guys and gals should put something on their agenda – maybe outlawing divorce or “seizing” carbon credits (ah! a new “joint property” item to squabble over… the lawyers should love that!). From my limited perspective though, some of that might be offset by divorce resulting in fewer offspring. After all, a good marriage could spawn more than two children, each of those spawning (breeding is a good word too!) two or more (grand) children… and so on and so on. The “novel” study cited above didn’t mention this parameter. Wonder if they adjusted the statistics? Anyway, we can be sure Montpelier will sort out those issues. (I can see community baths coming back into vogue…)
