Sunday morning happiness!

ABC’s 20/20 did a full feature this past Friday evening on ‘Happiness’. A topic like this has a lot of elements to explore of course, but one that stood out for me was the assertion that the “happiest” country is Denmark (I guessed Iceland – having no idea why that might be…). For those of us distressed about Vermont being the most “taxed” state, this is not good news since the income tax rate in Denmark is between 50 and 70! Imagine that?

Why that might be - is an interesting question in itself and is addressed in the web posting on the show. But to compare Denmark to Vermont … I don’t think so.

Here’s a question for you this Sunday morning – would you be happier living in Denmark?

Here’s another question for you: what makes you happy?

For me, I gave this a bit of thought since I generally feel I’m depressed (and therefore unhappy) a lot of the time. And I have a LOT of good reasons for that! But what I did realize about my own happiness is that I find a good deal of it from reading – learning some new and exploring new ideas. That might be part of the reason for my blogging hiatus of late. I’ve been engaged in learning python – an amazing powerful computer programming language. I’ve done a modest bit of computer programming in the past – more than just Basic. But this  a new direction for me – and it’s a lot of fun! And I have absolutely no idea why! So, as long as this pursuit provides some happiness, I think I’ll follow that for a while.
