For those AGW proponents who are certain that the man made global warming debate is over, then this article won’t interest you. (How did such research get funded?)
Synopsis: seems that small increases in atmospheric temperature reduce cirrus cloud formation, allowing for rapid cooling rather than blocking infrared radiation - contrary to how the computer climate models have been handling things. The authors believe that by correcting the models for this observed effect of “enhanced cooling”, predictions of future warming trends would be reduced by as much as 75%. In other words, rather than AGW being a positive feedback “thing”, the observations of Spencer, et al. suggest this is a strong negative feedback mechanism - a “cool” one if you will.
Needless to say, Dr. Spencer expects these observations to be controversial.
