carbon rebates … or peak oil

Why Climate Change Can’t Be Stopped” gives an interesting follow-up perspective to an earlier post : Sky Trust Carbon Cap. And one that is hard to argue with, though most will. From the authors’ point of view, the debate about global warming  is also over - where the real debate lies in how we handle it properly.  The “Let’s Do it Right” tag line.  And, my gut tells me that trading credits, permits, or shilling rebates will simply distract us from dealing with “it” - like where did all that drinking water go?  Thanks to Common Tragedies for pointing us to this article. But we can go on…

Add another consideration: peak oil. If you subscribe to the Hubbert peak oil theory, we’re about ready to begin cutting our carbon emissions at least from that source. What’s left to be done?

If it’s carbon emissions, renewables won’t do it. And in opposition of the former Gov. Salmon’s urging the renewal 0f Vermont Yankee’s licence, James Moore of VPIRG points to the “study” recently released by the Vermont Rural Energy Council. If Bernie Sanders thinks Vermonter’s should trust this more than the NRC, then God will need to bless us all.
